Bio:

Stevie Oliver (she/her) is a Maryland native that currently resides in Baltimore with her husband and 3 young daughters. As a professional photographer for over 15 years she recently retired to focus on family life, homeschooling and nurturing a new artistic vision.  Largely self-taught, she uses photography, cyanotype printing, found objects in nature, and hand stitching to express her vision.

Artist Statement:

In the beginning of 2020 I was mesmerized by the way the natural world kept blooming, when the rest of the world was shutting down. I began pressing flowers and plants in an effort to preserve and control my often chaotic environment, finally settling on cyanotype printing as a more permanent way to capture and maintain my creations.

A natural extension of my photography work, my storytelling style is a preoccupation with a desire to capture the mundane, overlooked beauty in everyday life.  Employing a shift in scale and perspective, I create scenes that push the viewers to rethink their environment, often with whimsical, other-worldly results.
