Decoupaged flowers

Now that more of you will be pressing plants and flowers I wanted to pass along a few project ideas that you could create with your new pressed plants.

First up, decoupage!

All you need is your pressed flowers, something to decorate and mod podge.  If you don’t have any on hand you could try Elmer’s glue (maybe slightly diluted)

For this particular project I took a slice of birch tree that we had on hand and decorated it with pressed ferns and flowers.  Use a large paint brush to brush on a layer of mod podge.  Gently arrange your pressed items on top of the glue and carefully paint on another layer of mod podge.  The glue will dry clear and preserve your flowers.

If you wanted to try this on wood slices too you can find lots of different kinds on amazon.  This would also work well with wooden frames, gift tags and bookmarks.  It did not look good on paper though and I ruined some really pretty pressed flowers.  But it’s all an experiment so we'll learn what works and doesn’t work as we go.

*Worth noting that thin white flowers dry more translucent so my hellebore that pressed so beautifully kind of blended in to the wood.
